Starting on the upstream end of Dürnstein one takes the Vogelbergsteig, passes the Fesslhütte, all the way up to the Starhembergwarte (outlook) an Dürnstein's Schossberg. After a well deserved rest it is only downhill to the famous castle of Dürnstein and the small town itself.
